Always wash the skin of a watermelon under cold running water before slicing, even though you do not eat the rind — cutting through unwashed skin can transfer surface bacteria to the flesh.


Storage Instructions

  • Whole and uncut — store at room temperature away from direct sunlight, consume within 3 to 5 days of delivery
  • Once cut — wrap tightly in cling film or place cut-side down in an airtight container and refrigerate
  • Refrigerated once cut — best consumed within 3 days
  • Do not freeze fresh watermelon — the texture breaks down and becomes mushy on defrosting
  • Keep away from strong-smelling foods in the fridge as the flesh can absorb odours
  • Tip: Chill the whole watermelon in the fridge for 2 hours before slicing for the best eating experience
